Le Coulet – a beautiful vacation rental apartment in Annot, France

Not far from the city of Nice, in the foothills of the Alps, lies the quiet little village of Annot. Le Coulet is a cozy little vacation rental apartment in a recently refurbished 15th-century building that overlooks the original medieval center of the village. Located on the fourth floor, it has great views of the mountains and two pedestrian squares, one with a small outdoor theater, and the other with a picturesque fountain. The bedroom faces south with a lovely panoramic view over the village to the mountains.

Amenities include:

  • Living room with a sofa bed, folding single bed, HDTV, DVD player
  • Kitchenette fully equipped with small stove, microwave, and washing machine
  • Bedroom with a double bed
  • Bathroom equipped with a shower stall

Pets are allowed, but dogs must never be left in the apartment alone.

It’s important to know that Le Coulet is located on the top floor of the building, which makes for great views, but requires climbing quite a few stairs. Anyone with a disability that makes it difficult to climb stairs should make sure they are up to the challenge.

“Le Coulet” is an old French word meaning “small hill.” This makes sense because Le Coulet is located in the center of Annot, on a small hill leading to the foot of the mountain.

The Village of Annot

Annot is a small village, but you can find just about anything you may need in the local shops. There is a pharmacy, a butcher shop, delicatessens, bakeries, newsstands, and convenience stores; as well as a library, a bank and a post office. A small supermarket is located about 1 km from the center of the village.

There are also several cafes and restaurants in Annot. The Tourism Office is well equipped and a great place to gather information on attractions in the region.

Annot also has tennis courts, a swimming pool and an equestrian club. There is a large petanque terrain in the center of the village next door to a cafe/bar that makes it easy to have a nice beverage while playing this popular French game.

On Tuesdays the town square hosts a farmer’s market where vendors from all over the region sell everything from clothes and shoes to olives, vegetables, cheeses and wine.

The huge boulders that surround the village are popular among rock climbers who come from around the world to test their skills.

The ancient roman trails are also an ideal place for hiking. Throughout the year a local guide can take you to see wild flowers, or collect mushrooms depending on the season.
